I disagree with you, obviously, because I’d rather kill myself than defend capitalism (and indeed my comment expressly called out how capitalism is the worst), but respect all the same.

The definition of imperialism used in this video is doubly flawed. First it requires that the nation be capitalist (which just leads into useless arguments about what China’s economic system is and into arguments about imperialism vs sparkling exploitation) and it also requires that the exploitation happen outside the borders of the country being examined for imperialism (which is such a bad framework that it might imply that Israel isn’t imperialist because they claim Palestinian territory). They could have ended the video with just that definition and then said that no matter what China does it is ontologically and definitionally incapable of imperialism, at worst all it can do is sparkling oppression. The video does go on to talk about how China is a lot better to foreign countries than the west is but oddly omits any mention of tibet or territory disputes around the South China sea, or what China clearly wishes to do with taiwan. The video is absolutely white washing china and making it seem like an uwu small bean who would never hurt anyone.
In not acknowledging the negative side of China it also gets in the way of a frank and earnest comparison with western imperialism and how China still is better (not blackbagging foreign heads of state for cheap oil for example). This makes China look bad, as if the truth of the situation needs to be covered up, and by comparison that the west is less bad.
This is a bad video.
So, regarding Pol Pot, you agree with my assessment that this video white washes china even though they are still less bad than the west/united states?
