  • I went to Admin Dashboard -> Libraries -> Scan All Libraries. I believe that does the “Scan for new and updated files” by default. According to this reddit thread, you only need to replace metadata if you’re utilizing the new features like chapters in audiobooks.

The Scan All Libraries should suffice for the basic set-up (followed by manually triggering the optimize database scheduled task). However, if you want it to catch some of the new features (really only chapter support for audiobooks springs to mind), that requires a “replace all meta-data” level scan.

  • I will be doing this tonight. I was waiting for the bugs to be ironed out of the 12.0 release. Will report back with the findings

    Edit/Update:

I’m happy to report that the update went very smoothly. The only thing I had to do different was remove my plugins before this update. Luckily all the plugins I did use were also updated to support version 12.x but I did have to reinstall them manually after the update. On the front end, performance is noticeably better on all my clients. Things just load so much quicker now and the experience is very smooth. In the back end, my full library scans didn’t take nearly as long as they usually do. I did make a full backup of my 10.11.11 server just in case but glad to say I won’t be needing it. This is such an amazing update!
