I’m not a believer of push notifications, so I leave motd open in the background, with maybe a few hundreds messages a day and it consumes 1% of my battery. I know it’s not an answer, sorry 😅


You have been using software stuck in the last century I’m afraid. IRCv3 solves all of this with the clear exception of voice/video chats. Use ergo server, the lounge or gamja as a web frontend. Motd on android feels like a current messenger (but it’s partly made with ai unfortunately). irc really is a credible possibility today

I get that, the feature here is realtime messages and notifications, which irc and correct apps provide, not push notification itself.
