The title is [AIP] or AI project. So yes.
[AIP] doesn’t imply vibe coded. It came out of community consensus to signal use of AI tools at any stage of the development cycle.
The presence of agents.md likewise doesn’t imply vibe coding. It’s an open standard (now under the Linux Foundation) for giving AI tools project-specific context.
It’s a configuration file for your tooling, not evidence the AI wrote your code.
FWIW, calling something vibe coded when it isn’t is a slur in dev circles.
OP cleanly announced AIP.
Treating that as equivalent to vibe coding is a category error
I didn’t want to respond to their comment because it appeared in bad faith to me. But AIP as I understand it is required for any AI involvement. It does not mean vibe coded.
I invite you all to judge the code for yourselves. Read the agents.md file too.
When it comes to AI hysteria, Lemmy reminds me of the movie Chinatown.
“Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”
Could be worse. I had some muppet following me across three communities telling people not to use my “AI slop” project (begrudgingly shared by request) after I disclosed AIP.
You’re fine. Next time don’t use punctuation and formatting in your blurb - less attack surface :)
It doesn’t look like its in bad faith at all.
With that label, I default to vibe code unless specified otherwise in the post. Its not really up to use to be invstegators. Especially non programmers. They rely on questions like that to understand if its vibe coded or not.
Its like saying people should read the scripts they download before they run them. And like yes, but if the goal is adoption, you need to account for those who dont know what to look for.
This is a deeply unserious take.
Assuming the worst when someone has proactively disclosed is a strange way to encourage disclosure.
You admit to having no way of checking. Fine. So, if OP hadn’t in good faith used AIP, or had taken a millisecond to add agents.md to .gitignore, you wouldn’t have known - and you’d have had nothing to say.
Again, agents.md is not an indicator of vibe coding. If the entirety of your due diligence is spotting that file or running slopscan, we’re better off not tagging at all.
The position you’re defending punishes honesty and rewards non-disclosure. That’s not a reasonable default. That’s backwards.
You want to know why i assumed the worst? Because it was left unspecified.
I’m not going to single handily vet every single slop project like a sleuth. I expect honest disclosures. If they’re not, then there’s no room in a good faith community like this.
I assume the worst until specified otherwise. Why is it on me to be a detective, and not just you know, say how AI was used in the project in the post. That would have prevented this entire conversation.
I see no reason not to assume something isn’t vibe coded until specified otherwise. Because it’s a filter that helps me filter out this community. I read a post, and maybe a couple of comments. If its not specified, I move on.
If you want better disclosures, then do that. Dont wait for mods, just fucking do it yourself.
So -
There’s no disclosure OP could have made that you would have accepted in good faith then? And “just do it yourself” - you mean like OP did with AIP?
Weird logic, friend.
I would have accepted a section on how AI was used in the project post. I’m not here to click every link and check myself.
What would you have me assume from the tag alone? Or from the entire post?
And yet you called it slop. Twice. Before asking.
You also describe yourself as successful software developer
A developer who can’t evaluate whether something is vibe coded without a dedicated prose section, but is comfortable calling it slop on sight.
What exactly are you caviling against here?
So you didn’t answer the question, and instead lobbied personal attacks. And I’m the one not acting in good faith?
Edit: the question was asked, and ignored.
Next, I never said I couldnt, I said I won’t. Because ain’t no one got time for that. Least of all me.
So again, reading the post here, what would you have me assume?
Third, seriously, find better material.
