Other people have talked about socialist revolutions, which are indeed great examples. But we can’t forget the global bourgeois revolutions that lead to capitalism throughout the world. Without those we would still be stuck in feudalism. While capitalism has many flaws it’s much better than feudalism in many ways.
Laos doesn’t get much attention because they haven’t had much chance to develop after the US razed the whole country to the ground and left a bunch of mines and unexploded ordinance that are still being removed to this day. But they do have a communist party in charge, and China has been actively helping them recently.
“Uhh sure peoples lives got twice as long and they went from feudalism to space in one lifetime and are now the dominant world power but OH THE NONSPECIFIC COMMUNIST HORRORS, OHHH HOW TERRIBLY COMMUNISM HAS FAILED.”
TheFinn
Proud Axis power doomily vagueposting about socialism. Fork found in kitchen.
By almost every metric they were massively successful seeing some of the largest leaps in life expectancy in history side by side with the largest strides in poverty alleviation, infant mortality and more.
If you exclude just China alone from global poverty statistics global poverty by headcount is worse today than in 1981.
Not that you really care you just want to pontificate from your soapbox about “the silly Marxists” who dare to actually wish for and push for better.
Americans care about freedom. You should probably learn this
So we’ve moved from most people to Americans. Interesting. Also given America has the largest prison population in the world in raw numbers not even per capita I’m not sure that’s particularly true, especially when American prisons are by design essentially slavery.
Yes the freedom to be free to be terrible and racist to others, or be free to appear to get the chance to be extraordinarily wealthy not anything related to actual freedom
Yes, and just like the second coming a revolution has never happened. /s
What is a successful example?

China, Russia, Vietnam, Cuba
don’t forget DPRK and Laos
Certainly the DPRK, I am not very well read on Laos however.

But the US/west continuously try to destroy their economies, kill their leaders, foment social unrest, commit sabotage.
Clearly the concept is a failure. ;)
If they are your definitions of success, I think most people are going to pass.
Neat graph. It also leaves out quite a few horrors but those are less photogenic
Moving the goalposts. If you want to start a new discussion how about you finish the previous one first?
Your argument is that the revolutions were unsuccessful. In what way is the PRC worse than the republic of china?

If you can’t guarantee the same level of freedom to someone, they won’t care if you’ll meet their needs or not.

Legal slavery as per the 13th amendment, which in fact does not abolish slavery.
Americans have the largest slave-population today. What freedom are you talking about, you idiot?
Yes the freedom to be free to be terrible and racist to others, or be free to appear to get the chance to be extraordinarily wealthy not anything related to actual freedom
and by most people you mean most liberals whose brains haven’t yet developed capacity for critical thinking
I love your snark o7
Spell it out for me, brainiac.
Plenty of people already did in this very thread dumbo.
